My first experience and a good one

Today is the day I will attempt on this venture. I wasn't that well-prepared. But, I have promised and I must deliver. My sister was looking forward to today and in fact, had cancelled another clashing activity just to make today happen. (How come the eunuch is more concerned than the emperor?)

Actually, I had been doing my homework and do some research internet. But, with the limited time I have to do so many things, I could not focus a lot of time on this. More so, here we are talking about a PMR (secondary one) and SPM (secondary four) level. And, this is one of the toughest subject, the national language, Bahasa Malaysia.

Even though the 'students' are my own nephews, I feel the responsibility as well as the pressure to teach them. Well, the session went on quite well. At least, I know what I was doing. I had given some pointers to them. They seem appreciative and are learning something. I'm glad even though I was slightly 'lost' when both seem to want my attention simultaneously. I guess tackling this will come with experience.

It's a good start indeed.

My ambition was to be an accountant

From the first year I reached secondary school until I graduated, being an accountant had always been my first choice ambition.  It was only on my final year in Secondary 5 that my first choice had changed to being a 'Manageress'.  Somehow, as a child, an accountant gave me the impression of being a very highly-respectable profession.  Not only that, one can only call herself an accountant after passing all the necessary examinations.  She can't call herself one just because she holds the title of 'accountant'.  Having knowledge of this respectable profession or rather occupation, as what I knew last time, and the fact that not anyone can be an accountant, I told myself that that would be my choice.  How about doctors and lawyers? Aren't these respectable occupations? Oh yes, they are. And these earn a lot of money too.  I had even  thought about whether I would be able to be a good lawyer as being a lawyer means one needs to ha...

What were your ambitions when you were young?

We used to write down our ambitions on school cards we needed to submit at the end of the year.  I can remember vividly my early dream was to be a Hotel Administrator or a Hotel Manager.  Being quite a perfectionist (I realise my perfectionism is only in certain aspects of my life), I chose to write Manageress instead of Manager. At one point, I even aspire to be an urban planner. How ambitious was I! I wanted to 'rule' then. I wanted to decide what should there be in a city, how to manage the city. But, my dream was shortlived. I couldn't recall what was the reasons for giving this up. The following year, I kept to my real profession 'Accountant' as my ambition. Being a secretary and a teacher were my last two choices.  For the former, it was due to the influence of my sisters who were all in this field. A teacher, not something that I was very proud of as I know that a teacher doesn't earn a lot of money.  However, I do know that it's a noble p...

Books which collect dust

So little time, yet so many things to accomplish.  Now, when will I have the time to read the books I bought?  There are at least 5 books that I have bought but are now sitting uselessly while accumulating dust in the book shelf.  Some of them are just flipped for a few pages and later abandoned again.  I feel so sorry that these books are not read yet for its contents.  I'm sure there are intricacies, wonders and amazement waiting to be discovered by reading them.  But, what will power do I have to pick up one and start reading regardless of my busyness?
