As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, it was as though we traveled back to stone age. We were impressed. However, as we spent the second half minute in the restaurant, we felt invisible. Even when we were finally visible to the waitresses, we felt the least welcomed. We were not shown to our table although the waitress was standing less than 5 feet from us. We had to find our way to a suitable table. And, thankfully, we were finally served when we found our own table, that was when we asked the waitress to join another table for us as the two small tables are too uncomfortable for 5 of us.
Ironically, for a restaurant of this size which has at least 20 tables, I could only see not more than 3 waitresses, excluding the cashier. No complaints from us since our food came quite promptly. The button for 'Service', 'Bill' are only for 'display'. They didn't work, at least ours didn't work, not sure about the other buttons at other tables. My kids felt cheated that no one came to us despite pressing the buttons repeatedly. I am not surprised because this is Malaysia! Things look very promising when they are newly introduced. Lacking maintenance, they soon die their natural death.
When we asked for the bill, the waiter gave us the bill, err..not really, he only brought us the bill. He placed the bill (without the usual leather folder) on our table, murmured 'RM84.10' and stood waiting. Coming back with the change, he just placed the change on the table and walked off. 'Please' and 'Thank you' were evidently absent. What the...?
If this restaurant can survive, they have to thank the mall management for bringing the crowd and the price is quite reasonable too. RM7.90 for a plate of butter fillet or lemon fillet rice is not pricey. The serving is just nice for females but for big eaters, it may be a little too small for them.
By they way, I am referring to Gasoline at Berjaya Times Square. The one at Hulu Langat Lookout Point is much better in terms of customer service. You can at least find many waiters and waitresses running around, they are more enthusiastic serving customers, contrary to the male waiter who 'served' us. Did he serve us? We want our service charge back!
